Bag Lady

Call me the bag lady.

That’s what I am.

Every where I go, I carry two bags with me, sometimes three.

My office is mobile. I have my laptop, three legal pad notebooks (one for each project I’m currently working on), my calendar book, scene worksheets, golden notebook (for final writings before entering them into computer), current mail and bills, a couple inspiring periodicals, pen case (my favorite pens, mechanical pencils, high-lighters), usually a sweater and a pair of gloves, a few thank you note cards, and miscellaneous items.

One bag is my Kate Spade bag, given to me on my birthday from Michael. We found it at a KSNY outlet store, 60% off. It’s so durable and amazing, I can’t recommend anything better.

And then my cloth bag, given to me from a good friend in film school who’s from Canada. It’s black with white lettering, and reads, “L’art sauvera le monde.”  -Fiodor Dostoievski

It’s french for Art will save the world.

I love this bag too, because it holds my files and other items my other bag doesn’t hold (I despise an overflowing bag) and it reminds me of self reliance, simple yet robust.

One of the reasons why I chose to be a writer, is because of my kids. I wanted to do something that would allow me to hone my craft while being with the them as much as possible.

I think the world could use more writers.

More thinkers, artists, and doers … but most of all, more writers.  🙂

To write is to breathe. To suffocate. And to bleed.

“The act of writing is an act of optimism. You would not take the trouble to do it if you felt it didn’t matter.”  -Edward Albee, Playwright

“A person is a fool to become a writer. His only compensation is absolute freedom. He has no master except his own soul, and that, I am sure, is why he does it.”  -Roald Dahl

“The desire to write grows with writing.”  -Desiderius Erasmus

Which is why I’m here, with this blog.

What artistic desires do you have?  If you don’t express yourself through words, do you express yourself in another way?

All of it matters.

x and tales,

AEJ
