here’s where a writer thinketh. sometimes on the

here’s where a writer thinketh. sometimes on the couch in comfy clothes with a hot cup of tea, or in the garden to catch a bit of sun with a Diet Coke. the goal: to find a happy place in hopes of riding a stream of consciousness. this is how the sausage is actually made. i try and listen to her ... mining for golden moments that resonate. a whole bunch of golden moments equals a big messy story. eventually the OCD brain takes over and cleans up the mess ha (thank goodness!)

writing is the result of imagining. real writing is the result of HOURS and HOURS of thinking. this idea has been ruminating with me for 6 years. she’s close to my heart, and now she flows ... i truly believe there is a reason my mind kept circling back to her all these years. i don’t question why, only do. this is what keeps me forging ahead, when the act of writing is so painful and emotionally exhausting, i choose to press on.
a gift for this time.

it was a year ago this month we started to kick into gear for @deadlyillusionsmovie
HAPPY to report not only is the movie finished but it has sold!!! a miracle by industry standards to have shot, completed and sold a movie in 9 months. we continually thread the needle.
more details to come ... but in the meantime know this:
putting one foot in front of the other is better than no step at all. sometimes you’ll surprise yourself when your heart and mind are aligned in doing something the universe is longing for you to do. follow those instincts!! i honestly don’t know how i made it to the other side of this thing, only to say i put my head down and got to work.

feels like lifetime ago when I got to meet and work with @iamkristindavis — one of the most focused and hard working artist’s I’ve ever met. ill never forget how she would come to set, analyzing her scene, then approach me with a question or idea in regards to her character which would surprise me in the best way possible. every choice she made was 💯💯👌🏼 She, in essence, made me and the material profoundly better because of her wealth of experience and strong intuition. THANK YOU KD for joining this ride with us. you took a massive leap of faith with me and I’ll NEVER forget it!! you are simply brilliant in this film. hard work pays off ❤️👊🏼🎥 @deadlyillusionsmovie .

We’ve been scheming for years now! Ever since we went through, what I like to call, the “Vietnam of shoots” with my first feature (high temps, horses, and a tough shooting-schedule) we smoked stogies on my bday to celebrate our triumph, and all I could think about was “What could I do with this mega talented actress now that we know we can survive the impossible? What could we create that would leave a PUNCH but not kill us in the end?” Ha 🧐 An idea percolated in my mind for 2 years after this night, to the point I couldn’t get it out of my head or stop thinking about it. It began with a moment, one key scene that I like to call the “juice scene” — a moment that drives a writer to create a narrative just so we can get to that scene. When I finally got the courage to pitch her the whole story, she LOVED IT. I was surprised by her automatic enthusiasm for the material, and may have even shed a tear or two. It also meant this is what I needed to write next! One year of development followed by 6 months of writing, @gracethethriller was born. Love you @greer_grammer 💖 Can’t wait to see you make your punch and then-some!! 😁🤙🏼#happyannytous
